Kitesurf Spot Marisucia Beach, Los Caños de Meca – Cadiz
Los Caños de Meca is a paradisiacal natural space. Here you will find coves and corners of great beauty, but you must take into account the lack of access, services, showers, parking, etc. Which is logical when it comes to a natural area with many unspoiled beaches. So we must emphasize that when you visit the area you must be aware of collecting your garbage and prevent others from throwing yours, the beauty of this unique environment depends on each.
The kiters who travel here look for the shelter provided by having to leeward the Marisucia Beach (it is the beach to the left of the road that gives access to the Lighthouse of Trafalgar). You must know that the natural escape, which will be driven by the prevailing wind of the east, will be the area of Cala de Varadero, which is all of stones. You should also know that there are also stones on the windward side, and these, unless the tide coefficient is large, will not be seen even at low tide, but they are still there and you can easily break.
Be especially careful and if you do not know the areas of stones, ask a local rider. The beach is not very big, so if you are a beginner we recommend that you practice during the first or the last hours of the day, as well as try to match the high tide, as the space available at sea will be wider.
There is no marked area and, if there was one, it would be only a channel of access, so you must take into account the bathers, the highest priority for them. If you surf recklessly or do not have enough level to develop safely in this spot, be aware of it and do not make the kiter community itself stops your feet. On the other hand, this is a special place, here all the kiters help themselves unconditionally so, whether you are a beginner or an expert, you have the support of the rest of the boaters. For all this, do not hesitate to help those who need it.
Preferred areas for practice:
The zone next to the dune of the Beach of Marisucia is the one that owns the zone of access and exit to the sea more safe and without stones.
Do not sail beyond the rocks that you will find towards the area of the lighthouse. If the wind goes down or you have a mishap, you will be pushed towards the back of the cape, known as the Aceitera (there the currents are very strong, especially with the tide coming down).
In this spot you can enjoy its waves, but remember that they are a scarce commodity and are used to use as ramps or to surf. If you are not going to do anything with them, do not occupy the zone of breakers because you will annoy the other sailors. You must have very clear all the priorities of step when navigating and, in the specific case of kitesurfing in waves, who surf has preferential step, unless you get too close to the shore and another kiter is going to enter the sea.
Again, remember the total and absolute priority of bathers. In summer there is a lot of people and in the area that usually occupy (leeward) there is usually less wind, so do not compromise your navigation and go to the shore before seeing you in the right area of the beach with very little Wind and bathers around.
Winds with which you can practice:
-East Wind:This is the predominant wind in this spot; It is the east wind that may have unpredictable behavior given the terrain’s terrain. Normally it increases in intensity when the sun rises. It is usually 5-10 knots of less intensity than in Tarifa and more constant.
-West Wind:The plunger will make screen so you can see your navigation very compromised. The escape would always be by zone of rocks. This wind is not valid for this spot.
-Sourt Wind:It is a wind blowing in stormy situations, so moving to here is play if you have other beaches closer. The sea may be tidy here, but you’ll have rocks all over the lee area.
-North Wind: gusty, cold and totally offshore (terral) wind. This wind is not valid for this spot.
Information point, equipment rental and school of kitesurf, SUP and surf, as well as kayak crossings:
The only school in the area is Trafalgarkite Watersports, in case of doubts or need help go to them. They teach courses adapted to all levels, if you navigate but do not feel confident enough, hire their services and sail safely while you learn new things. They also do more activities such as SUP or paddle surf (also for all levels: beginner – advanced paddling – waves) or impressive cliff routes on kayaks or paddle surf boards, weather permitting and sea conditions.
Meeting place after beach:
In front of the navigation zone, you will find the bar Las Dunas, where you will feel at home because on windy days you are invaded by the colorful and joy of the kiters who visit the area. Not only do they have parking where your vehicle and material will be guarded, but inside you will find an exceptional decoration, an impressive garden and, in winter, a beautiful and large fireplace that will make you recover your body temperature chatting with any kiter about what you most He is passionate about kitesurfing.

Hotels and Rooms:
In summer season the offer for the area is wide and varied. We know what a kiter really is looking for, so we recommend the Bay Village (next to the lighthouse road) because of its location and features.
Normally the rentals in Los Caños de Meca and Zahora are for fortnights or full months, so if you want to come only a few specific days that the wind forecasts are good, ask for rooms available at Hostal Minigolf (crossing the lighthouse road ), Or Hostal Los Pinos or Hostal Alhambra, both at the foot of the road in Zahora (a little less than 2 km). If they have everything occupied, they can take you back to a stay free of other accommodations.
