Gisela Pulido and Liam Whaley won the Virgin Kitesurf World Championships 2015
Gisela Pulido and Liam Whaley, two friends and Tarifa’s riders, won the Virgin Kitesurf World Championships 2015.
Gisela, born in Premia de Mar and living in Tarifa, won her first kitesurf world championship title with just only ten years, after two consecutive years without winning, this year snatches the title to Karolina Winkowska and gets her tenth world title.
“I’m incredibly happy with my first place! I still can’t believe I won! It has been the title with more value to me and certainly the tightest I’ve ever competed in, where Karolina, Bruna and I were fighting for it. The female level of riding is very high and will be even more next season. This promises an exciting 2016!” Gisela
Last year Liam finished second and this year with just 18 years has reached the highest being first in the Virgin Kitesurf World Championships 2015.
He born in Ibiza but moved with his family to Tarifa years ago to train and make his passion his profession. Not only he did it, it has been awesome!
“This year has been crazy! A lot of ups and downs…all of the top riders back on tour and fit! My hardest event was definitely in Germany where I had just come back from a small knee injury.” Liam
The starts of Virgin in the PKRA was expected to boost the kitesurf competition, but the fact is that it has been the opposite. They had more problems than ever before and have been suspended four competitions of nine.
Hopefully next year this situation will change pushing high the Kitesurf World Championships.
